The City Lights lecture series is inspired by Charlie Chaplin's 1931 film, "City Lights," which explores the poetics of precarity in urban environments. This series will focus on the creation and transformation of the city, considering its historical context, social and economic inequalities, physical features, and ongoing development. The lectures will examine how the past influences the present and how the city is constantly evolving through planning, infrastructure projects, and technological advancements. The series will delve into the complex relationship between the city's history, its current state, and its future aspirations.
